Japan to end Olympic Flame: Affected by COVID-19

The Olympic flame is supposed to be removed from the display creating the history of postponemnt of Olympics Games in the World. This was the beautiful public display but Japanese Olympic Committee finally decided to shut Down as the nation’s facing COVID-19 issue.

Keeping the Olympic spirit alive, organizers of Local level decided to maintain the flame in a lantern and show in Fukushima where the torch relay was going to start.The Greek leg of the torch relay was scrapped when large crowds mobbed Hollywood actor Gerard Butler as he lit a cauldron in the town of Sparta.

The flame arrived to a muted welcome in northern Japan in front of a few dozen officials and guests, after plans to invite 200 schoolchildren were abandoned.
