People around the globe have struggled to cope with the pandemic that has plagued our planet for a while now.
Unfortunately, many university students have to finish their degrees online. This takes away the joy of graduation. Considering many years of hard work of the students, one university in Japan decided to give them the respect and recognition they deserve.
BTT University discovered a great way to hold their students’ graduation ceremony without the students’ physical appearance. It was time for Robots!
Even though this whole event took place the previous year, it has recently gained momentum. This could mean that 2021 graduates also want their universities to hold ceremonies like this.
According to Bored Panda, the 2020 graduation ceremony took place at the Grand Palace at Chiyoda, Tokyo, on March 28.
It is not surprising that the Japanese quickly learn from crises and develop practical, innovative solutions.
Bored Panda reports that the robots were operated remotely by four students from two departments to obtain their certificates. ANA Holdings developed the robots. Each had a display screen that showed the student’s face who was operating the robot and arms that allowed them to accept the certificates. To keep the event’s spirit alive, the robots appeared in graduation gowns.
All the other graduates took part in the ceremony via Zoom. They could also send comments and participate in the ceremony.
