Have an old Uniqlo Heat Tech or down-wear that is quite old that you no longer plan to wear? Instead of throwing it out, why not exchange it for vouchers and coupons on Uniqlo? And Uniqlo will even recycle it for you! For your old Heat Tech shirts and down jackets or vests, you can redeem digital Uniqlo Coupons (worth up to 1,000 yen [US$8.77]).
The “Re: Uniqlo” campaign aims to give the company a more environmentally friendly image. This includes the use of paperless reward coupons. Recycled items that people can still wear will go to places like refugee camps and non-profit organizations. Recycled items that are not wearable will get turned into new clothing.
Re: Uniqlo is relatively hassle-free. To recycle your clothes, all you have to do is bring your item to Uniqlo. You’ll receive 200 yen for Heat Tech items and 1,000 yen for down-based items (jackets and vests). People can only use the 200-yen coupons on purchases greater than 201yen. If you spend more than that, you might get a bargain.
However, there are some catches. Recycling Heat Tech items can earn you only 1,000 yen. This means that even if you bring in 20 Heat Tech shirts, your earnings will still be 1,000 yen. You’ll also get 1,000 yen and a more minimalist wardrobe. The only thing that doesn’t count for down-based items as scarves or blankets.
