Japanese researcher Mitsuyuki Ikeda from the Okayama Laboratory doesn’t believe in human waste.
He believes that it’s a perfectly healthy protein that you’re sending to the sea, and he’s discovered an approach to extract it, mix it into steak sauce, and make the perfect fecal meal.
Despite the drawback of adding soya to hold the two together, Professor Ikeda believes that there’s no excuse why we shouldn’t all dig into his burgers made of turd. Why would he consider it, everyone might wonder.
Because Tokyo Sewage asked him to, Tokyo is awash in wastewater mud, as it seems that there is only one way to get rid of it, and that’s to eat it.
Prof. Ikeda discovered that the mud was packed with protein because of the high level of bacteria. Mix it with reaction enhancers into a machine known as an “exploder,” and artificial steak is released on the other side.
As per Digital Trends, it’s 63% protein and 25% carbohydrates, 3% of lipids, and 9% mineral content.
“Initial tests have people saying it even tastes like beef,” Digital Trends reports.
Prof. Ikeda and his team say that it’s the ideal solution to reducing emissions and waste from flatulent cows.
This is understandable since if someone had told you that what you ate was made of the remains of feces from yesterday, you’d likely be too scared to chew meat for the rest of your life.
There’s no doubt that there’s a hiccup – aside from its made of soya and poo. The price of making Prof. Ikeda’s sour steaks currently is approximate “10 to 20 times” the cost of cutting it off of a cow.
It’s up to these fast-food chain restaurants to figure out the financials. The mass-production aspect of the equation has been taken care of.
