Tomorrow is the last day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and so far it has been a rollercoaster of sentiments. So many events, along with tons of athletes participating for the chance to be at the podium, some won, and many lost. Every event had a flood of emotions. Athletes got to enjoy the experience of living in Japan for a while in their anti-sex beds, while some tried to test its limits, others tried various Japanese dishes presented to them, such as Onigiri and fellow Japanese athletes guided them on how to do stuff the Japanese way.
Well, all the competitiveness aside we wanted to bring you guys some memes and viral tweets that have sparked up from the Tokyo Olympics to end it on a good note.

Although the Olympics finally happened, Japan is still struggling with the pandemic. Fans weren’t allowed to watch these games after the rise in cases. Some cities went as far as withdrawing from hosting the Olympics as the cases were getting uncontrollable and only about 15% of the total population was getting vaccines. Japan has been in an on-and-off lockdown scenario for quite a while now and they still managed to host such a massive event.

When a country hosts the Olympics, the benefits surely outweigh the cons but there are cons nonetheless. Hosting such a grand event requires you to have the economic backing as well as the stadiums to host these events. Its been seen that every Olympics has been having a higher budget than the previous one and leaves a bigger pile of waste every time. Japan has taken some measures such as the Olympic Medals were made using recycled electronics majorly. Some use natural advertisement methods such as the rice field art which would later be harvested. 9.

Another controversy around the budget for the Olympics is that some of the events need to have specially built venues and the city has to pay for it rather than IOC. While the IOC says the city doesn’t need to build the new infrastructures, we all know every city doesn’t have its own Whitewater Kayak venues. IOC rakes in tons of money from the sponsorship deals and TV cast-right deals but it really doesn’t go for building such new venues for the games. It’s about time IOC came up with a better solution to these situations.
