TOKYO|
Former Polish athlete popularly named as Marcin Urbas has demanded that Namibian sprinter Christine Mboma, who is just 18 years age, had to go through a gender confirmation test also known as sex-affirming test,so as to prove him because he couldn’t believe that someone could sprint her times and definitely that too a woman.
The Namibian sprinter, Christine Mboma, who stood second in the podium on the victory cermony, grabbing the silver in the 200-meter athletics event in Tokyo on Monday. The athlete who stood first had narrowly beaten to bag the gold medal was a Jamaican sprinter named as Elaine Thompson-Herah, who also shattered the world record in the event for women’s 200-meter with a time clocking just 21.53 seconds making only -0.28 seconds faster than the Namibian sprinter.
The impressive pace of Mboma have led Urbas to question why she is better than him at that age: “I would like to request a thorough test on Mboma to find out she definitely is a woman, “said Urbas, reports a sporting website sportingsiteMarca.com.Due to her high testosterone levels, Mboma is basically barred from competing in races between 400-meters as well as 1000-meters, as per the Olympic rules.Speaking to the local media named Marca.com, Urbas further told that “the testosterone advantage of Mboma over other participants is seen with the naked eye.
In construction, movement, technique, at the same time as speed and endurance. She has the parameters of an 18-year-old boy. At that age, my PB or personal best was 22.01, and she has done it in 21.97 in Tokyo”.Urbas is the Polish record holder for the 200-meters with his personal best of 19.98 seconds. Urbas is now a sprinting coach official. The difference in sexual development or also abbreviated as DSD debate has largely impacted the Black Afrcian athletes, including big names like Caster Semenya, Christine Mboma, and Beatrice Masillingi.
“Also one of womens’s soccer’s most talented player, named as Tabitha Chawlinga, says she was forced to strip on multiple occassions during matches in her home country so as to prove that she was a woman”. As per reported by The Guardian on Friday.Speaking more about Tabitha Chawlinga, she was from Malawi, but she played for Wuhan Jianghan University FC in the Chinese Women’s Super League, says that she was first made to undress when she was just aged 13 while playing for a girls school team.Just because of her physical appearance and her ability, she was not believed to be a female by any of her opponents.Further speaking to The Guardian she told that “I had never been so devastated and I cried at the embarrasements that I had been exposed to”.
Here, what we can observe is that if women like Mboma are challanged over their genetic makeup, famous United States swimmer Michael
Phelps- regarded as one of the greatest Olympians of all time who has bagged 23 gold medals by himself, he is considered blessed as a result of his health anomalies.Basically athletes like Mboma inculde an abnormally large wingspan, a lack of lactic acid production on their body, which results in fatigue reduction, and double-jointed ankles for a powerful paddle.
