A new life-size Gundam Statue will be placed in 2022 by Sunrise and Bandai Namco that will be based on Gundam (Nu) from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
The exact location is the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport, Fukuoka, Japan. This project was announced by the companies at a 2nd Gundam Conference, September 15, 2021.
The statue of Nu Gundam will feature a modified version of the Mobile Suit, which first appeared in Char’s Counterattack. In place of the asymmetrical fin funnels, the RX-93ff has a Long-Range Fin Funnel.
The RX-78-2 Gundam statue was initially located in Odaiba, Tokyo. However, the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam replaced it. Gundam Factory Yokohama currently displays the original Gundam as a movable robot until March 31, 2022. In Shanghai (China), a full-scale statue depicting Freedom Gundam has also been placed.
Bandai Namco, Sunrise, and many other Gundam-related projects were also announced at the conference. The new TV anime series Witch from Mercury and a movie adaptation from Cucuruz Donan’s Island episode of the first Mobile Suit Gundam are just a few examples.
Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counterattack can be viewed on YouTube or Netflix right now. You can also listen to the soundtrack immediately on Spotify.
