Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has officially been ranked as the 64th most-grossing Japanese film after selling 6,288,404 tickets, which was approximately $74.9 million.
The picture is presently ranked second after debuting at the top of the Japanese box office for the first two weeks. Japan’s box office receipts have surpassed Shin Godzilla, Back to the Future Part III, and Stand By Me Doraemon in recent years.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 outperforms Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time. It was the highest-grossing Japanese film last year. The picture grossed 10.22 billion yen (approximately US$88 million) in Japan after its run.
Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga was published in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine. This series is an ancestor to Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga series serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Throughout its course, the series has garnered 18 collected volumes. Sumzap also announced a free-to-play RPG game in June 2021, but no additional information about the project has been released since then.
From October 2020 through March 2021, MAPPA produced a 24-episode animated manga adaptation. It was directed by Sunghoo Park, known for his works like Banana Fish, The God of High School, and written by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan, Dorohedoro).
MAPPA, along with Park and Seko, returned to animate Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Along with Jujutsu Kaisen 0, VIZ Media licenses the manga in English. The anime was broadcast live on Crunchyroll when it first aired in Japan, and VIZ Media holds the home media rights.
