Kyoto’s Kiyomizu-Dera Temple Is Now Open for Autumn Illumination Event!

The Kiyozumi Temple, which overlooks Kyoto city, hosts unique nighttime events three times a year. Here the temple’s buildings and surrounding foliage will be illuminated for a fantastic display.

It is always highly anticipated because it occurs when the autumn foliage is at its peak and where trees are covered with a stunning array of red-and-gold leaves.

The temple will be open from November 18 through 30 for the annual autumn light-up. The temple was also covered with scaffolding in preparation for the recent Tokyo Olympic Games. Also, the earlier spring light-up couldn’t happen because of Covid-19 concerns. Hence, this is a great time to march towards the dozen hundred-year-old landmark.

Kiyozumi-dera will illuminate the temple grounds and Jojuin gardens. A bright blue beam will be reflected into the night sky by Kiyozumi-dera to signify the compassion of Kannon (the goddess of mercy) enshrined in the temple.

A general entry fee you have to pay is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for children. If you’re looking for other places to enjoy the Autumn leaves within Tokyo Check out The Best 10 Places To See Autumn Leaves Around Tokyo
